Brand Spotlight: Vanish Stain Removal

Hi guys!

So you’re probably thinking that this Brand Spotlight post is very different to my others. It is and it isn’t! No, it’s not a cosmetic product, which is what I usually do, but Yes, it is relevant to cosmetics!

How? I hear you say.. ๐Ÿ˜› Easy!

If you’re clumsy like me you’ll know the struggle of trying to do your makeup without wrecking your clothes! I frequently spill shit on myself. I’m obviously not blessed with great hand-eye coordination. Or, and I’m sure a lot of girls know this pain, getting foundation on a white top or dress. SO frustrating.

When Vanish contacted me to try out some of their products I was intrigued. How could I make this relevant to my readers? It was quite simple when I thought about it! I’ll test the products out against make up stains! So that’s what I did. ๐Ÿ™‚

Vanish generously sent me out three of their products.

Vanish Powershot

Vanish Gold Powergel

Vanish Gold Oxi Action Powder

Which one of my readers can also win for themselves… but more on that later! ๐Ÿ˜‰

First off I put the Powergel to the test against the dreaded mascara smudge! I obviously did this on an old top (just in case it didn’t work, can’t be too careful!)DSC_0549 DSC_0557

I purposely stained my top (painful) and left it for a few minutes. Because, come on, who really catches their stains as soon as they happen!? I then squirted some of the Powergel out and rubbed the stain with it’s ribbed head.DSC_0563 DSC_0564

After doing that I rinsed my top in the sink and BAM! the stain was gone! Haha but no really, it was! Man, was I relieved! So the Powergel got a big thumbs up from me!DSC_0566

^Clean as a whistle!^

Next up on trial was theย Gold Oxi Action Powder. For this stain I rubbed red lipstick against my top. Probably one of the worst colours you can stain your clothes with. ๐Ÿ™

I then put a scoop of the powder into a bucket of water and threw my top in. Well I wasn’t quite so rough but you get the picture!DSC_0577DSC_0581

I left it sit for an hour or so and then went to check on it. The stain wasn’t as bad but it wasn’t completely gone. So I decided to see if a Powershot would finish it off!DSC_0582

I threw one of these pink bubbles into the washing machine and let it do it’s thing. Again, my top came out with the faintest bit of red on it. Hmm, I decided to give the Powergel another shot to see if it’d budge this pesky stain. Lipsticks are normally oil based which makes them notoriously hard to shift.ย DSC_0590 DSC_0592Et Voila! After a few seconds of rubbing the stain was finally gone!

After a bit of research I learnt I should have just used theย Powergelย first as it works better for those type of stains. The powder works better on stains such as mud or red wine. Which is handy to know as red wine stains like a b*tch! Good thing I usually drink white. ๐Ÿ˜›

So overall I was pretty impressed with these products, especially the Powergel. I’d recommend looking at Vanish’s website if you aren’t sure which product is best for which stain. Something I probably should of done. ๐Ÿ˜› They have a handy tool on their website called the Stain Solver which you can check out here!Screen Shot 2015-08-23 at 20.05.36Vanish have also kindly given me the chance to give all these products to one of my readers!
