DIT Student Design Competition Semi Final

Hi everyone!

So this past week has been all go! On Tuesday DIT’s Fashion Soc held their semi final of their student design competition in conjunction with Vodafone in Smock Alley.dit1As one of the models, I was up bright and early to get my hair and makeup done! My makeup was super natural and done in Makeup Forever and my hair was in a cool ponytail done by the girls in The Style Club!

Some fabulous shots by Colin Mulcahy!

There were 22 models and designs, so you’d have thought the judges would have taken ages deciding on just 10, but it turns out their decisions were pretty unanimous!

As we waited backstage for the finalists to be called, Alice and I were chatting so much we nearly missed her name being called! She was the first finalist to be called and we were in shock! I was delighted for her as she put so much work into her piece and she’s such a lovely girl! Coincidentally, she’s also Nirina’s cousin, which I found out that night!! Small world!

The other finalists were; Emma Gannon, Helen Hayes, Lamis Goumaa, Magdalena Galica, Mollie Sinnott, Nuala McCarthy, Sarah Murphy, Shauna Harrisson, Stephen McLaughlin!

The next morning all 10 of us were up early again for the finalist’s press call in the Smithfield fruit and veg market! It was super cold but we got some amazing pics out of it and even ended up in The Independent and The Herald! Thanks Sasko Lazarov for the great pics!

The final is on the 14th of April and is being held in Vicar St. It’s gonna be a great night so if you’re interested get onto me for tickets or purchase them here! The proceeds of the show are going to The Jack and Jill Foundation who do such amazing work and deserve every penny!

Hope to see you there!
