Event Diary: The Irish Blogger Conference Cork

What a weekend this has been. I literally haven’t had a chance to stop and it’s been amazing!

As you might have known, especially if you follow me on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram, I was attending another one of Fiona’s fabulous blogger conferences this Saturday, but as a speaker this time! I was lucky enough to be on the Fashion/Beauty panel along with eight other wonderful bloggers/writers/illustrators/all round gas bitches. (Looking at you James) đŸ˜‰

I got the bus down with Kassi, first thing Saturday morning and we made our way to the Clarion where the conference was being held. Fiona really pulled it out of the bag this time and had some incredible speakers. I have to say, Corina who writes travel for her sister Sue’s blog, was my favourite. I think I mostly sat in shock throughout her talk wondering how the hell she travelled so much, on so little. Inspirational!

I’m not going to take you through the conference bit by bit as I’m sure there’ll be tons of posts about it online which you can peruse. What I really want to do is talk about my personal experience on the panel!

I’d never done anything like this before and I honestly didn’t feel nervous until Friday night. I went to bed feeling fine until I tried to sleep and I couldn’t! I don’t know what it was but I just couldn’t get a break. I think it was around half 4 until I finally nodded off. Wrecked doesn’t even describe how I felt Saturday morning.

Whenever I get nervous I get a headache. And I had the WORST headache on Saturday. Which is crazy because, yeah, I was a bit nervy but nothing major. I was actually really excited about getting on the panel! And then the time came to get up on the panel and BAM, nerves kicked in to the max.DSC_0041

On the panel with me was; Anita Whyte from Dolledup.ie, Emer O’Mahony from Irish Fashaholic, James Kavanagh from absolutely everywhere right now (especially snapchat), Holly Shortall from Holly Shortall Illustrations, Dave Cashman from Dapper Dave Cash, Mark Anthony from Mark My Style, Edel Cox from The Beauty Dial and The Galway Player.

Jamie Tuohy, who was literally the most amazing host by the way, started off by asking us all how we started blogging or doing what we were doing. When it got round to my turn I was shaking like a leaf so I was. Absolutely shitting it. Mark next to me said the same, so at least we were all in the same boat! ?

After that and a few more questions were asked, I felt fine! I think the vibe from the panel was really chilled and we all bounced off each others answers/ideas. Someone from the audience even noted that and said we should get our own show… I wish! It really helped and I felt so comfortable, I could have stayed there for the rest of the day! DSC_0042IMG_9357

Myself and Emer before we got on stage! Thanks for taking the pic Darragh!

The audience asked some great questions and hopefully we helped them out! Thanks to everyone who tweeted too!Screen Shot 2015-09-27 at 19.57.04 Screen Shot 2015-09-27 at 19.57.06 Screen Shot 2015-09-27 at 19.57.20 Screen Shot 2015-09-27 at 19.57.00

A HUGE thanks to Fiona, my amazing co-panelists, Kassi and of course everyone who attended for making this an incredible experience! đŸ™‚ May there be many more conferences to come!
