I hope you all had a marvellous Christmas! I’m back blogging after a much needed break and today’s post is full of handy tip to optimise your makeup storage space. 🙂
I live in a pretty small apartment and lack the much needed space all my beauty products require. Definitely a first world problem! 😛 So let me show you how I make the best with what I have.
Acrylic drawers are a great, simple way to organise your makeup. Plus you can see what’s in them as they’re clear! There are loads of different drawers on the market with HerClutter box probably doing the most luxurious but expensive ones (they range from €139!!) but if, like me, you can’t afford that there’s loads of cheaper alternatives. Home Store + More, Howard’s Storage World and MUJI all have a vast range of storage units. The one I picked up below is from MUJI and was €24.99 for a 2 drawer unit with a flip top.
Most of my makeup used to be kept in the top drawer of my chest of drawers but I had so much makeup in it the hinges started breaking under the weight!! Yes I know, I have a problem. 😛
As you can see I put most of my compact face products such as powders and blushers in the bottom drawer and lipsticks and lip glosses in the top. These drawers are great as you can buy more and stack them up.
Acrylic Lipstick Holder
These lipstick holders are really handy but don’t confine them to just holding your lipsticks! As I’ve my lip products in the drawers I use mine for mascaras and eyeliners! You can get these in most euro stores or Home Store + More for €2.39.
This brush holder is pretty popular, I know loads of people with them! They’re so pretty though! 😀 They’re actually candle holders from Ikea and only cost €2.20. I have two, one for my face brushes and the other for my eye brushes. You can also pick up bigger versions (which are plant pots) if needed. I have to thank Damien for picking mine up so I didn’t have to make the journey out! 😉
The final (and best) part of my makeup storage unit! For Christmas Dan built me a vanity style shelving unit to place on top of my chest of drawers. Of course, we don’t all have boyfriends to build them stuff but this can be easily replicated with ready made shelves and lights.
Before I show you what it looks like now, I’ll show you what it used to look like.. 😛
AfterI am truly in love! These shelves have literally transformed my room and I have so much more space! I use the shelves for perfume, hair products, skin care, jewellery and makeup palettes. No more cluttered worktops! The lights around the mirror are awesome too and give way more light to my room which is naturally quite dark.
So there you go, some of my tips to help de-clutter your makeup collection. Let me know if you them any or have any good ones!
