My Goals For 2019

Hello 2019!

Welcome to my first post of 2019. For the third year running, I’ve decided to reflect back on the year, the goals I’d hoped to achieve and the goals I’m setting myself this year. See last year’s post here.

Goals for 2018

Complete 4th year with honours

More collaborations and partnerships

Save money for the future

Visit America

Cut the shit

Here are last year’s goals and I’m pretty happy to say I achieved all of them in a way. The first goal I set and the one I’m most proud of is completing my degree and graduating with a first class honours. I worked my butt off in 2018. It was a frantic year between work and college but was all worth it when I saw my final results.

In terms of my blog, I did take a step back. I knew it was unhealthy to put too much pressure on myself so I decided not to worry about taking some time off to focus on my studies. So in 2018, I had a lot less brand collaborations than the previous year but I did have some! I collaborated with NA-KD Fashion and shot probably one of my favourite looks of the year. I also partnered with Huawei Mobile to be a Huawei ambassador for their handsets. I also shot looks for both iClothing and Abercrombie & Fitch which was pretty cool!

2018 was definitely my year of saving.  I saved like a FIEND. I cut back on buying clothes, coffee, lunches out… not that I spent that much on those things in the first place, but I did cut back! I’m obviously not getting into the finer details of my personal accounts but I’m happy to say I have a healthy amount of savings put aside.

I lived the American dream and visited LA in October. Read all about that here.

And lastly, I did indeed, cut the shit. I spent less time online pointlessly scrolling, I stopped worrying as much as it was driving me insane and I prioritised work and college over everything. I’m not gonna lie, it was a pretty hard year and filled with lots of stress but there were also many great, great moments that I’m grateful to have experienced.

Goals for 2019

Keep pushing myself at work

Really give Youtube a go

Save (again)

Make the most of everything

So I’ve come up with four goals for 2019. I kept it at four because they’re all pretty big ones and I don’t want to burn myself out.

As I said, I worked pretty hard in 2018, especially after I’d handed in my dissertation and didn’t have to worry about college. I gained not one, but two new clients to manage and I won a third at the end of the year. I got to go to London and pitch one of the biggest companies in the world (which we won) and also went to Zurich to work (and play). It was a fantastic year for Connector and I can only see things getting bigger and better in 2019.

After I finished college I started slowly watching Youtube videos again. It must have been all that new found spare time I had. But this started a new love for thrifting, DIY and actually Youtubing myself. I’ve uploaded three videos so far and I have to say I’m loving it. I’ve tried shooting video before but always found it too time consuming and difficult. Now I’m coming back with fresh eyes, more time and better camera skills. Make sure you subscribe to my channel now! 😉

Ok back to boring but yeah, I put save on my list again… duh. I ain’t gonna wake up rich after a year of saving so I know this a long, long, long term goal. It’s not the funnest thing to do but I gotta admit I’m pretty good at it and it gives me an awesome sense of achievement when I see that bank balance rise.

And lastly, I’m gonna try make the most of it. And by it, I mean everything. But more importantly, appreciate the process, where I am in life, and what I have. I touched on this on Instagram but I’m gonna take as much advantage of Dublin’s fair city as I can. Stop wishing I was shooting somewhere more ‘Instagram worthy’ like LA or NYC and start appreciating the beauty in my little world around me.

So there they are. My goals for 2019. Probably (definitely) won’t be easy but hey, when do I ever make things easy for myself?

Where I’m lurking when I’m not here…
