The Trench Coat, a classic staple item that everyone needs in their wardrobe.
By now I’m sure you all know that I’m obsessed with nude tones, especially when it comes to jackets and coats. I literally only own them in nude and brown colours! I’d been on the hunt for a nice trench coat for some time and I came upon this beauty by sheer accident. Some time after Christmas I was browsing Bershka and saw this in the sale section for … wait for it… €12.99. I honestly couldn’t believe it, they thankfully had my size and I was on my happy way, finally the proud owner of a gorgeous, short trench coat.
I’ll admit that after I bought the coat I realised that I didn’t actually know how to style one! So I headed onto my favourite site for outfit inspirations, Pinterest! (You can find me here by the way) I love Pinterest as all I had to do was search “short trench coat outfits” and I was inundated with gorgeous looks and ideas. After seeing what I liked and didn’t like I decided there was way too many styles for just one blog post! So here’s my first; Dark Denim.
Because of the silhouette a short trench coat gives, it’s best to wear fitted trousers. I picked these lovely skinny jeans up in Penneys the other day for €19. Isn’t it funny how nearly every pair of jeans these days have rips in them! I think the dark denim really contrasts with the light toned coat but in saying that a light denim would look great too!
My top is another Penneys purchase and a bargain might I add! I grabbed it for only €2, granted it’s a bit oversized as there was only size 12s left but it works. As the coat is so plain a top with detail on it adds a bit of flavour to the outfit.Don’t be afraid to mix and match prints! As you can see my bag has a cool zevron/aztec print but doesn’t clash with the stripes. If you look at my other street style looks I usually wear my brown Michael Kors or camel Coach handbag but I thought I’d mix it up a bit for a change! This shoulder bag/clutch was kindly gifted to me from Oasis at their recent SS16 press day.
My shoes and sunglasses are also Penneys (can you tell I went shopping there recently?). I love these lace up style shoes but I recommend trying a size up as they fit quite tight.
I hope you liked this street style post, I’ll have the next trench coat look up in a couple of days!
