Every so often we need to shake things up and make a change
Big or small, change can come in many different forms. Last month I decided to finally cut my hair, not just a trim but a proper chop. While I like the thought of long hair I don’t like the reality. I find it very high maintenance with an incredible amount of washing and drying.
I think like a lot of people, I always feel apprehensive before trying a new style. What if I don’t like it? What if it doesn’t suit me? But then I catch a reality check and realise my hair literally grows miles overnight, a benefit of oily hair I guess.
Months before I actually got my hair cut I browsed countless Instagram pictures and Pinterest boards for inspiration and to find exactly the style I was looking for. Bringing along a few pictures can really help your stylist understand what you’re looking for.
Luckily for me, I have a very talented aunt, Denise, who’s a stylist in Peter Mark and was willing to do my hair. It was a bit of initial shock seeing nearly a foot of hair on the floor but I was so pleased with the results. I even wish I’d cut my hair sooner, this length really feels like ‘MY’ style. To help further change up my ‘do, I also got a few highlights complimentary of Fiona in Davey Davey. She scattered really fine blondish highlights throughout my hair to give it a sun kissed, natural look.
Speaking of style, I also feel I’m really finding my own personal style better. I’ve never been an overly dressy person but I do like to look like I’ve put some effort in. I adore outfits like the one I’m wearing in this post. It looks good and is comfortable to wear. It’s one of those effortless outfits that works well in a lot of various occasions.
Anyway, maybe that’s what getting older is all about, finally beginning to feel more comfortable in yourself and the choices and changes you make.
