tk maxx survival guideTips for shopping in TK Maxx without feeling overwhelmed

Shopping is fun but can sometimes prove testing. Some days I feel like I could wander around town for hours and other times I’d rather curl up at home and browse online.

Some stores are easy to shop in and some take a bit more time. TK Maxx is definitely one of those stores but without a doubt, it’s worth the extra effort. When TK Maxx approached me to share some insider tips, I was totally up for the challenge.

That’s why I’ve created this TK Maxx shopping guide to help you get the most out of your visit!

Go In With An Open Mind

My main tip for shopping in TK Maxx is to go in with an open mind. I think of TK Maxx as a treasure trove, who knows what wonders you’ll find there! Stock is forever changing with several new deliveries arriving every week so there’s always new and unique pieces to be found at amazing value. That’s why it’s pointless going in with preconceptions. There are so many awesome things you can discover when you dig deep within the store, no matter what your budget.

Take Your Time

As I said above, TK Maxx is like a treasure trove. It’s definitely not a store you can pop in and out of, not without allowing yourself the full experience anyway! Set aside an hour or two so you can peruse to your heart’s content. If you’re solo shopping don’t forget your earphones! Put a good playlist on and get in the zone… no distractions!

Comfort Is Key

Before you even start shopping, make sure you’re well prepared. Wear flat, comfy shoes, a good, seamless bra and clothes that are easy to put on and take off. There’s nothing worse than spending 10 minutes in a changing room trying to undress! If you’re planning on spending a few hours shopping, bring a bottle of water and definitely grab a trolley or basket on your way in!

Try Everything On

I suggest this tip regardless of the store you’re in! I can never go into a store, pick something up and and take it home without trying it on. I’d advise to always try things on before purchasing as clothes can look so different on the hanger than they do on the body. Go around, grab as many cute pieces as you can carry and bring them back to the changing room… that’s what they’re there for! Make multiple trips if needed. No doubt you’ll spot something you weren’t looking for on your way!

Expect The Unexpected

Similar to my first point about being open minded. When shopping in TK Maxx you really don’t know what to expect. They often stock quality and designer brands, many high end, that you can’t find anywhere else… and at up to 60% less than the RRP!  Some of my favourite areas to browse are the beauty and sportswear sections. I’ve often found beauty products from some of my cult brands, as well as brands that I’ve never seen in any other store here before. My top bargains are in the sportswear section though. Gym gear can be pretty pricey so being able to nab high end gear for a fraction of the retail price is a huge win for me! These are just my personal faves but there’s so much more to discover if you have time, such as accessories, homeware or menswear… it just depends what you’re looking for!

Focus On You

My last tip is to focus on the task at hand. If you have time to browse the entire store and spend an hour, great! If not, then you can still tick off your shopping list. The great thing about TK Maxx is that the clothing and shoes departments are arranged by category and size, which makes it super easy to shop. Need something in particular? Just find the correct department, locate your desired section and search for your size!
